Doors opened and visitors were greeted by students of Avanti House School (AHS) and Krishna Avanti Primary School (KAPS), they registered and welcomed every guest.
The event started with a group of Dhol players. The Deep Pragatia (opening ceremony) was then performed by senior members of Avanti Trust, staff and students of our Schools. We were delighted to honour our special guest His Grace Srutidharmadas (President at Bhaktivedanta Manor).
There was a dance by Meera Performing Arts, followed by a speech by the Deputy Principal of AHS Mrs Morris and the Principal of KAPS Mrs Hastings.
The main entertainment of the afternoon, the Garba, Raas, Dandia then started with the Sangeet Sarita group singing traditional Garba songs. Firstly with children joining hands to form a train and learning the steps of Garba. Adults were eager and did there Garba moves along with the children too. It was truly an afternoon of fun for everyone.
Children had come prepared to have fun dressed in lovely Traditional Indian outfits – queuing to take pictures at the photobooth ! Many had also participated in both best dressed and best decorated Aarti competitions. The judges were amazed by the presentation of the Aarti plates.
There was Mendhi stalls, face painting and a bouncy castle for the little ones. The food was mouthwatering.
Special thanks goes to our Sponsors, supporters, special guests, the MCs, the judges, staff members from both Schools, all the Volunteers from FOAH and FOKUS and last but not least the parents and children. Thank you all for making this a truly amazing event.
