Members are not legally responsible for the actions of the association. It is the elected committee members who are legally responsible for the management of the association.
During the inaugural board meeting it was decided that Avanti House Primary School will be supported by a Parents Teacher Association. The term will be 2 years.
Committee is a team of volunteers who are elected at the association’s AGM to manage the association on behalf on behalf of the members.
The Executive Committee consists of: Officers and Ordinary Committee members. Officers have specific roles such as Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary . These officers make up the board and are also members of the FOAH charity. Ordinary Committee Members play a vital role working alongside and supporting the board.
All members of Executive Committee have equal voting rights, with the exception of the Chair, who has an additional casting vote, should this be needed.
Chair - provides leadership for the committee, sets the agenda for the meetings and manages meetings in line with the agenda.
Vice Chair – supports the chair and takes the lead in their absence
Secretary / Assistant Secretary– is responsible for requesting items for the committee meetings agenda, taking and distributing minutes.
Treasurer / Assistant Treasurer – is responsible for day to day admin of financial records and procedures as well as the banking and handling of money at FOAH events.

Staff Representatives – acts as the link between school staff and the rest of the FOAH PTA, reporting back to staff after meetings on the outcome as well as bringing matters to the meeting brought up by staff.
Communications & Marketing Representative – responsible for updating the PTA noticeboard, updating the monthly bulletin, arranging publicity for events, writing reports after events.
Website / Social Media Representative – Keeps the website updated with latest news and events blog and helps promote FOAH via social media.
Parent Representative – Makes sure messages to and from the FOAH Executive Committee are received in respective classes.
Events officer – co-ordinate and support event groups for local and school wide events.
In addition to the elected committee, it is valuable to the committee to have a pool of volunteers/helpers who are willing to support the work of the committee. Volunteers are very welcome to attend committee meetings but they would not have a vote; only elected committee (Ordinary and Officers) can vote.
P
arent Community Representative (PCR) - supports the role of the primary and secondary representatives. They will be needed to convey any plans and ideas created by the FOAH Executive Committee to all the parents of the class or group they represent and vice-versa.
Some more groups may get formed as and when required.
